The New Boarding extension was handed over to the College on Friday 14th June 2019.

The building backs onto the existing Senior Boarding that was completed in 2012, increasing the ensuite provision from 47 to 108 rooms.

The entire block will provide ensuite bedsit accommodation for all students in Years 11 to 14 in September 2019, but it’s first use will be for residential courses held at the College over the Summer.

With the creation of this additional Boarding space, and a change of location of the present provision in the College, Boarding within the College will have a totally new look to it and a more collegiate feel.

Year 8 to 10 will be located in what was Price’s and Alden’s Boarding Houses, now collectively called Armour’s, where they will have small dormitories of 1 to 3 students.

Year 8 to 11 will have residence in the 108 en-suite block in two constitute Houses, Bowen’s and Chase’s.  The Boarding collective will remain under the umbrella of School House.

Boarding under the leadership of Bert Robinson will in its entirety be ‘new’ since his appointment in Sept 2006. And since then the numbers too have growing quite markedly from 61 to 151. A snap shot of last year saw Boarders attending the College from 32 different countries/nationalities.

There is a hope to then develop and extend Boarding further within the College to 200.

Additionally, it is planned for September 2019 that a Boarding Reception area will be completed in the ‘Barnes’ Corridor, in the old bedsits area, which will further add to the Boarding experience from the very first visit to the College.
