The Spring Showcase was a welcome return to the Campbell College calendar. Last Friday, March 25th was the first time pupils had performed for a live audience in over two years! Parents, Pupils, OCs and friends were delighted to return to Central Hall to hear a diverse range of music from out talented students. This year, instead of charing admission, the Music Dept raised funds for Action Cancer. thank you to everyone who donated, the buckets were full at the end of the evening!
The evening got off to a swing with the Senior Orchestra and Glenn Miller's In the Mood, indicating what a great night of entertainment lay ahead. Our Junior Choir sang a beautiful and poignant arrangement of Don't Look Back in Anger by Oasis which caused us all to reflect on everything that has been endured by young people during the unpheaval of COVID-19. Many in the audience were understandably emotional but uplifted by the joy the choir's singing brought us and their simple messsage for a brighter future ahead. Topping off the concert with Why We Sing by Greg Gilpin was a fitting end to an uplifting evening of music.
Congratulations to the music department, all our pupils and guest musicians for a wonderful performance in Central Hall showcasing the breadth of musicanship at the College. Special wishes also go to our Year 14 musicians as this was their last concert at Campbell.
Given all the barriers and challenges that artists in particular have faced through the pandemic, we are so proud of all that has been achieved and can't wait for the next performance!
