BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE: LAUNCHING OUR HERITAGE APPEAL
The Building for the Future campus development plan sets out a vision for the next ten years. This encompasses significant development of facilities as well as important heritage work to ensure that future generations of young men can continue to benefit from the unique setting offered by our existing buildings. The Heritage phase of this plan began in earnest in July and we watch with anticipation as the iconic Clock Tower is returned to its former glory.
Brick by brick and window by window, the skill of those involved is remarkable.
Work to the Clock Tower will take ten months to complete, costing close to £1million. The Clock Tower is only the start. Every heritage building requires attention and the extensive programme of work will take over a decade to complete, at an estimated cost of £10million. (2022)
The College receives no financial assistance from government for capital projects and our pupil capital fee does not cover work of this scale. Hence, our fundraising efforts are key to help make this happen.
Over the next decade, the Building for the Future fundraising campaign has committed - so far - to donating £1million towards these heritage works. This significant contribution has been made possible thanks to the generosity of the many Old Campbellians who have made donations and the College is eternally grateful for their support.
However, we have more to do and we need your help.
Our Building for the Future Heritage Appeal is launching today and hopes to raise further vital funds to support this ongoing heritage work. One area we seek to support is the cost of the windows.
There are 66 heritage windows in the Clock Tower - each costing up to £3,000 to replace.
We estimate that there are nearly 1000 windows across all our heritage buildings.
That’s potentially £3million worth of windows!
We are appealing to our Campbell community to support the College Heritage Appeal at whatever level they can. Whether it's £30 or £3,000 – every penny counts as we aim to raise vital funds in support of our heritage restoration.
We appreciate that times are tough as we all face soaring costs and an economic crisis – the College is not exempt from this. We recognise that not everyone will feel able to contribute, but for those who can - your help is vital and will be most gratefully received.
If you feel you can support this appeal, please click here to make an online donation. Or if you would like to discuss this further please contact Cathy Law, Development Director at cathylaw@campbellcollege.co.uk or telephone +44 (0)2890763076.
Thank-you for your consideration and your continuous support for the College.
Headmaster,
Mr Robert Robinson, M.B.E
