Staying Connected - Fiona Young

Introducing Fiona Young As The OC Communications Officer
1 May 2020
Of Interest
Hi, my name is Fiona Young and I am the Marketing Officer for Campbell College.

I joined the College in July 2017 on a Santander Internship Programme through Ulster University.  I graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Business Studies in July 2016 and began working in the accounts department of a large construction company. I quickly realised that my passion did not lie within spreadsheets and cashflows, so I applied to become the Marketing Intern at Campbell College. What was meant to be a 12-week internship somehow turned into a permanent job and I couldn’t be happier!

Before arriving in 2017 I didn’t have any connection to Campbell; none of my family members attended the College, I didn’t have any friends who were Old Campbellians and I, quite frankly, didn’t ‘like’ CCB. Mostly because when I was in my final year of school, we were put out of the Schools’ Cup competition, in the Semi Final, by Campbell, who went on to lift the Cup that year. I’m not bitter about it, I promise! However, my feelings quickly changed during the summer of 2017. People often say, ‘There is something special about Campbell, you can’t put your finger on it, but it gets under your skin’ and I whole-heartedly agree.

Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, you will find me in the Development Office. However, on a Wednesday evening I am normally running out the door to start my duty in the Boarding Department. Being a Boarding Master in an all-boys school was never part of my plan, but I absolutely adore it and wouldn’t change it for the world!

I now look forward to stepping into a part-time position within the Society as I take on the role of Communications Officer. I would be delighted to hear from you; if you wish to submit any news for social media, the website or the magazine you can contact me via society.office@oldcampbellians.co.uk

I look forward to connecting with you soon!
Fiona
