100th Birthday Of A Legend!

Our mother, Ada (Vin) Wells has been a dedicated supporter of Campbell College for over 70 years and this year, on the 20th November, she celebrates her 100th birthday! During those 70 odd years she has touched the lives of countless staff and pupils at the College and has attended almost every Speech Day since 1947. Her last visit to the school was to the Christmas 2019 Carol Service.

She came to Campbell as a young bride in 1946. She is the wife of the late Bob Wells who, from 1946 - 1981 taught Biology at Campbell College.

From 1954 - 1970 Bob was the Housemaster of Ormiston and Vin acted as Matron and Housemother to hundreds of young boys in their first year at Campbell. In her later years she accompanied a few groups of Cabin Hill boys who went on various school ski trips in the 1980s - trips led by her son-in-law John Walker (Teacher, Housemaster and eventually Vice Principal at Cabin Hill 1977 - 2006)

We are trying to put together a folder of memories for her before her birthday next month, and would love to hear from any OCs, staff or pupils who have memories of her. Please contact me at
