Lieutenant Colonel Scott Dunlop, the Regional Military Liaison officer for Northern Ireland, was awarded an MBE in the Military Division of New Year Honours List 2021.
Scott worked with numerous agencies, government departments & partners throughout NI in the response to the Covid-19 pandemic, delivering a tailored, discreet, military support in order to save life and to help shoulder some of the burden during the most challenging of times.
The use of the military forces in NI remains both contentious and sensitive, particularly if overtly deployed in public facing roles. His work throughout the Covid-19 response has set the conditions and proven the ground for the intelligent and appropriate use of the military here, for the benefit of the whole community.
