Dear OC
As shafts of light begin to break through with a hope of a return to whatever the new normal may be, wherever you may be in the world, I wanted to keep you informed of a number of things relating to The OC Society.
Events will hopefully be up and running soon, the first of which will be The OC Golf Day. Previously this has been played in the penultimate week of May. However, given the uncertainty of the ability to socialise (a factor seen by many as more important than the golf!) it has been delayed until Friday 11th June at The Royal Belfast Golf Club. A separate communication will be forthcoming next week relating to timings and bookings, and details will be on the Events Section.
I thank again those of you that have contributed to the statue that is being erected in honour of Professor Bill Campbell (3171) Nobel Laureate in his home town of Ramelton, Co. Donegal. We very much hope that a number of OCs still wish to contribute to this project in order that we might reach our target and can do so via the OC Society Shop.
Hopefully you have enjoyed reading the History of the Houses on the website, if you haven’t please do so and it is most timely, as we have the newly available OC House Ties in the OC Shop . And, if you require Face Coverings I would like to remind you that we have our very own OC Face Coverings made by OC Glenn Parkinson (11835) available in the online shop.
You will have recently received an email regarding Building For The Future (apologies if you received multiple copies of this, the website provider, Toucan Tech, has apologised to us as it was due to a glitch in their software which has now (hopefully) been rectified). Can I encourage you all to support this forward thinking and ambitious project that the College has undertaken.
Finally, some of you will be unaware, next year marks the 120th anniversary of The Old Campbellian Society. Further information will be distributed in due course in the Events Section, but please place 11th February in your 2022 Diary for the date of the Annual Dinner. It is hoped to not only celebrate our 120th but also a 50th Reunion of 1972, Simon Brennan (6506) is raising awareness of a 40th Reunion for the Leavers of “82” and Neale Wilson (8398) is doing the same for Leavers of “97” as it’s their 25th Reunion, as in Bill McKelvey (6447) for the 50th Reunion for Leavers of Cabin Hill (1972).
Finally, please do keep your News and Articles coming in to me via oldcampbellianeditor@gmail.com for the next edition of The Old Campbellian magazine and do visit the website to see what’s happening.
