The 2018 European Heritage Open Day will take place on Saturday 8th September 2018 and the College is opening its doors for a WW1 Archive Open Morning as part of the Heritage Lottery Funded Men Behind the Glass project.
Organisations such as Public Records Office Northern Ireland, North Down Museum, Queen's Living Legacies, Somme Museum, History Hub Ulster and the Military History Association Ireland will join our own Men Behind the Glass team, our CCF and the OC Society as part of this event.
There will be tours of The Men Behind the Glass project hosted by 6th Form pupils and hopefully some OCs.
The day will run from 10.00am until noon and if any OCs are interested in joining the pupils to be trained as Tour Guides by our partner Belfast City Sightseeing Bus Tours please contact
waltermurphy@oldcampbellians.co.uk in the Society Office.
Please note that volunteer places available for Tour Guides are limited and volunteers to act as guides will be required to attend a training session on 31st August at the College alongside the pupils - exact timings tbc.
It's very much hoped that there will be a big uptake of OCs to attend the Open Day on the 8th!
So, please do come and view the WW1 Archives, talk to the historians and archivists from numerous organisations and you are welcome to bring along any of your own WW1 archives to be looked at by the multitude of experts on the day.
Tours of the WW1 Memorial will be available througout the morning from 10.00am and there is no booking required to visit. Refreshments will also be available.
