The second Old Campbellian Society Business Lunch was a great success and enjoyed by all. The event took place on Friday the 22nd of November 2019 in The Ulster Reform Club and sold out in early November.
OCs, Parents and Guests met in The Old Billiard Room, mingling and chatting before taking their seats. Dermot Parker (7467), the OC Society Chairman, initially welcomed everyone and played a recorded message from Jonny Quinn (7471), who apologised for not being able to make the lunch due to promotional committments and hoped that it could make it to a future event.
Michael McAllister (7444), the Deputy Vice President, then introduced the Guest Speaker Ben Lowry (7500), the Deputy Editor of The Newsletter and regular contributor to the BBC and ITV as a political analysist. Ben very kindly stepped in to speak at short notice and was quite superb, entertaining, informative and well deserving of a huge round of applause for his wise and amusing words.
Diners remained at their tables long after a delicious lunch served by the Club, some of whom then filtered back to the office or went off to do some early Christmas shopping. Others stayed a little longer and enjoyed the hospitality of the Club before heading off to watch Ulster play or to sample further delights that Belfast has to offer.
Over £1,300.00 will go towards the Henry James Campbell Bursary Scheme, enabling a young man to attend the College, who wouldn't otherwise have been able to do so.
Finally, The Society would like to thank Stephen Hughes (7838) from
We'resure Insurance Services - 028 91 31101, for sponsoring the Lunch this year - please support him as he supports the Society.
